Dr Muhammad Islam

It is a matter of great pride and pleasure for our team to have brought out the inaugural issue of the quarterly The Journal of Law and Development (TJLD) under the aegis of the School for Law and Development (SLD), Islamabad, Pakistan. We welcome scholars to publish their original and quality research papers on national and international issues in our journal, using perspectives of law and development in their research. In fact, our journal is one of the pioneer research publications which invites scholars of various disciplines to reexamine the question of national development from the legal viewpoint.

I am truly grateful to researchers who submitted their research papers for publication in the first issue of our journal. I am confident that their rich contributions would help our journal gain respect among scholarly and legal communities around the globe. I am profoundly indebted to the editorial board members whose unstinted support has encouraged us to remain steadfast in our endeavor to publish this journal. In fact, the quality of research articles for this inaugural issue could not have been ensured without their constant engagement in the process of selecting and reviewing the submitted papers and their scholarly generosity to provide their insightful comments on each research paper time and again. I was greatly impressed with their scholarly patience, which they displayed in their interaction with our team members in the process of selecting and reviewing the submitted research articles.

I earnestly hope that this inaugural issue would inspire more scholars and researchers with various academic backgrounds to choose our journal for publication of their thought-provoking and insightful research papers focusing on national and international issues of law and development.

It would be remiss of me not to recognize that the idea of publishing a research paper could not have come to fruition in the shape of this inaugural issue without the tireless endeavor and sincere commitment of the two editors, Mr. Sharafat Ali and Ms. Rabia Mustafa. In fact, not only they conceived the idea of publishing a research journal but also diligently accomplished the required tasks, including their timely close and deferential interaction with the authors, editorial board members, reviewers, and other relevant concerned individuals, all of which made it possible to have this inaugural issue of our journal in your hands.

The writer is the Editor-in-Chief of the TJLD.
