Sharafat Ali Chaudhry is an Advocate High Court, the Member of Islamabad Child Protection Advisory Board, Legal Consultant for Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations and Group Development Pakistan. He is the founding chairperson of the School for Law and Development.
He has been member of Law Review Committee on child rights constituted by Supreme Court of Pakistan and member of Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee, Lahore High Court. He is served as a Legal consultant for the Ministry of Human Rights and Ministry of Law and Justice.
Mr Chaudhry is the founding partner of the law firm Hassan & Sharafat (HSU Advocates) and associated with renowned Cyprus based law firm Yiannis Papazacharia L.L.C. He has worked with national and international organizations in different capacities inter alia Legislative Drafting Expert, Legal Advisor and Law Researcher.
Mr Chaudhry has represented more than 700 public and private clients in different courts of law in matters related to inter alia, Election Laws, Local Government Laws, Service Law, Industrial Relations and Labour Laws, Anti-terrorism, Civil Law, Criminal Law and Constitutional issues.
Mr Chaudhry has drafted several federal and provincial laws relating to women and child rights laws. A few of them are the ICT Child Protection Act, 2018, the Juvenile Justice System Act, 2018, the National Commission for the Rights of the Child Act, 2017, the Hindu Marriage Act, 2017, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2017, the Criminal Law (Second Amendment) Act, 2016, the Criminal Law (Amendment) (Offences Relating to Rape) Act, 2016, the Criminal Law (Amendment) (Offences Relating to Honor Killing) Act, 2016, the Balochistan Child Protection Act, 2016.
He has been intensively involved in training of judicial officers, prosecutors and lawyers on juvenile justice and child protection. He is the author of a book “Law and Development”.
