Dr. Mamoona is the first Pakistani woman with a doctorate in forestry. She has working experience of 30 years. Some of her positions included Director Forest Education, Pakistan Forest Institute, Peshawar in 2 tenures; Deputy Director/ Technical Officer Biodiversity, Forestry Wing, Ministry of Climate Change/ Ministry of Natural Disaster Management (Planning Commission), Islamabad; and, Assistant Professor of Forestry at Peshawar Forest Institute. Dr. Mamoona performed various jobs as a Trainer, Consultant, and Human Rights Defender.
She has been a member of various committees such as the member of Curriculum Development National Committee; Member HEC Accreditation Forestry Expert Committee; and, Member Expert Committee of Forestry, University of Agricultural, D I Khan etc. She co-authored the book “Evolution of Forest Management in North Western Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Historical Perspective: Application and Implications”. She is the author/co-author of more than 40 research papers and reports.
